One of the main priorities of the company is to support the region, in which it operates. In the year 2008, Unipetrol RPA supported various projects in the region both with funds amounting to CZK 4.8 million in total and with non-financial gifts amounting to CZK 4.7 million.
Being a significant national company, Unipetrol RPA feels obliged to help the region, which it is historically most closely connected with and where its key production premises are situated. Owing to the company’s support, the communities and towns can carry out activities which they would hardly find funds for in their budgets. Most of the employees of Unipetrol RPA live and reside in this region so, in this manner, the funds partly go back to those who make them.
Support of the regional activitiesSystematic cooperation with the cities of Most, Litvínov and Meziboří dates back to the year 1999. Up to the present time, the group of partners has been enlarged to include thirteen towns and communities of the region (Lom, Horní Jiřetín, Louka, Nová Ves v Horách, Hora svaté Kateřiny, Klíny, Český Jiřetín, Mariánské Radčice, Želenice and Brandov). Support is traditionally focused on the development of activities in the social domain and in the areas of culture, social life and sports. At the same time, the company supports many small regional projects focused on ecology (common projects with the Ecology Centre in Most), prevention (Children’s Day with the Police of the Czech Republic) and education of young people, for instance. |
Most HospitalFor a fourth year already, Unipetrol RPA cooperates closely with the Most Hospital. In the year 2009, it will contribute to the purchase of an incubator for the Intensive Care Unit (JIP) of the Paediatric & Adolescent Ward. |
Support of regional schools and VŠCHTThe company cooperates with the secondary schools in the region (Educhem and Schola Humanitas secondary schools) and with the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague (Vysoká škola chemicko-technologická v Praze, VŠCHT). |
Support of regional Fire BrigadesThe non-financial gifts helped the Fire Brigades operating in the region. Since the requirements for special technology and fire-extinguishing means are getting stricter and stricter, the company gave the equipment items that no longer comply with the demanding requirements for use in heavy chemical industry, but still do comply with the common standards, to towns and communities where they can still serve to protect the health and property of their citizens. In September 2007, Unipetrol RPA gave to firemen nearly 40 tons of foam extinguishing agents Solvenseal and Sthamex. At the beginning of the year 2008, the fire brigade in Meziboří received a special Tatra fire truck. |
